Mark Marques is president and CEO of Joytel Communications in Jacksonville and has been in business since 2003. His company provides wireless and fiber Internet access, data center services and IT services to a variety of business, municipal and education customers.

Marques attended Florida Community College at Jacksonville (FCCJ) and St. Johns River Community College before transferring to University of North Florida. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 2004.

He credits UNF in particular with giving him the technical foundation and motivation to start his own business. Mark continues to be involved with UNF through panel discussions about the latest technology advancements and gives advice to up and coming entrepreneurs.

Mark served on the Electrical Engineer New Professor Search Committee while at UNF. He is a Jacksonville Chamber member and serves on its technology council. He is involved in many outreach activities through his church North Jacksonville Baptist.
